Karla sat on her couch, watching TV. She was watching a
documentary about animal abuse in the food industry, she thought this wasn’t
fair and it made her not want to eat meat. She felt bad for the animals,
countless slaughtered, it was so wrong, but she knew some would still eat meat
because it tasted good. She wanted a better solution, desperately, something to
solve it.
That is when a ghost appeared next to her, she didn’t notice
at first, until the ghost spoke and said:
“You know, I almost reincarnated as a marshmallow.”
Karla, jumped and thought she was going nuts, the ghost
continued:
“And I left because we cook marshmallows, and now I’m a lost
soul”
Then he disappeared, Karla was shocked by that revelation.
It was pain the trouble.
That would mean animals reincarnate as humans, but Karla was
furious now, because they were killing children before they were born. She had
to do something about it, so she went protesting on the streets and began to
scare people, they disagreed but she swore a ghost told her, this got her
locked up in an asylum for the mad.
In the asylum , she told the many insane and some believed
her, this caused a riot because they refused to eat and the doctors were
concerned, she wanted out to spread the word, so she seduced a guard and they
had sex in her room hoping it would get her out, but it failed and he was
fired. She didn’t mind, he was cute and it wasn’t his fault, she even liked
him.
It was now dinner time at the asylum, and it was the old
days so there was little care for the vegetarians, and she had to eat. She
cried, she felt so bad for the animal, but then an alarm went off in her head
because there were marshmallows in her hot chocolate, it wasn’t just the meat
it was the plants too and in horror she cried, but then she remembered that the
ghost left the suffering.
Did that mean an animals soul could leave? That they didn’t
have a single soul but many and that one was chosen, who wished to become
human, and that one knew what would come of his animal body? She knew this from
an old and new book both said they didn’t have souls, but one said they felt
pain and one said we went to the earth in death. Her eyes widened. She was okay
after all, but not all animals want pain , so she should speak up about less
painful methods, but couldn’t they harm animals just for fun, and she doesn’t
know, know. Unless they had a way to breed animals that want the pain and we knew?
Still those evil people will want some unwilling, only in the wild then, not
allowed in the city or country but the forest.
She ate the meat, it tasted sweet and buttered and drank her
hot chocolate. She knew what she had to do and soon she was released from her
imprisonment.
She was pregnant now and happily married to the guard, they
began a peace butchery using the most painless kind of slaughter, posting
boards, ads and news about her idea, some listened some did not. Supporting the
respect of cattle and painlessness, she sold pure meat with the myth that the
children born of this meet would be good.
Her son however was big like a marshmallow, cute and loving
but a little soggy at times, she loved him anyways. He reminded her so much of
that ghost she once saw. That helped her set up her life.
